The Town Square bandstand is an old idea inherited from the creation of Disneyland in California. There, it was ultimately removed before opening because it blocked the direct view of the castle.

From the moment guests enter the park, because of the three required passages beneath the station, the visual pull toward the castle is much more direct than in other parks.

To prevent that immediate magnetism from shortening the discovery of Main Street, U.S.A., the bandstand was added at the last minute and deliberately placed along the central axis to hold visitors longer.

For Eddie Sotto, some things should unfold gradually. By temporarily masking the castle, the bandstand slows arrival, allows the eye to wander through this early twentieth century town, and turns Town Square into a transitional space.
